A few weeks ago, delivering one of our autism awareness sessions with Leeds City Council, Leeds Central Library staff member, Dawn Stanley-Donaghy (Youth Librarian) attended and informed us of the great schemes taking place at the Library, such as the Leeds Cos-Play Group, but even better, utilising a list of autism books, she’s arranged for a display of books over the period of World Autism Awareness Week (26th March – 2nd April)

This ties in with other autism friendly events across the region involving the library services. This week (Thursday 29th March), Skipton Library run an event launching their scheme to make the library more autism friendly. In the meantime, colleague Abigail Simmonds took time out to visit the Leeds display (on the ground floor, approaching the children’s library section) to ensure that World Autism Awareness Week got off to a well read start. We’ve also been working with Waterstones, but more on that as it happens. Onwards and upwards
