Autism Bricks UK (ABUK) had an amazing day at the White Rose Centre after their appeal asking for pre-loved LEGO.
Supported by Specialist Autism Services, ABUK had an awareness stand in the White Rose Centre where kind members of the public were donating LEGO all day in support of adults with autism.
www.autismbricksuk.org is a unique social enterprise where pre-loved LEGO is restored to its former glory and re-sold or used to create ABUK’s own unique LEGO merchandise.
On their website ABUK also sell new LEGO and offer things such as a digital design service where you can have your company logo made for you. If like us, you love all things LEGO, check out the website to see what is available now and in the coming months.
Local television station Made in Leeds visited the Autism Bricks UK stand to film an interview in support of raising awareness about autism, ABUK and the wonderful things this new not-for-profit plans to do with the profits from people kindly donating LEGO.
The LEGO building table proved popular on the day where builders of all ages were free to sit down and join the ABUK staff in getting creative and sharing stories of their own amazing ideas and creations.
This was a great opportunity to talk about how donating LEGO can help adults with autism by using the profits made to re-invest and to fund the support of and provide meaningful work experience opportunities for these individuals.
The day at the White Rose was a wonderful experience and brought together LEGO enthusiasts of all ages supporting autism in the most creative of ways. Check back soon for more dates where we’ll be holding a stall!
