All of last week (w/c 13/06/16) TCV volunteers braved the rain to create our new sensory garden at our Shipley premises. The Conservation Volunteers is a community volunteering charity that works to create healthier and happier communities for everyone through environmental conservation and practical tasks undertaken by volunteers. This was a great opportunity for some of our members to get involved, as there were lots of tasks to do! We had to weed, paint, move gravel and bark and set up lots of fencing. 2 members in particular were showing off their superb painting and gardening skills and everybody worked really well as part of a team.
When complete the sensory garden will be a lovely calming space for our members offering a variety of different plants and sensory experiences. We can all agree that it’s a much better use of the space than a car park! All that’s left to do now is a bit of painting and planting and the garden will be ready for use.
We want to say a big thank you to TCV Hollybush for coming out and creating the garden. We also want to extend our gratitude to Lynda who worked hard to make this project happen (and came in on her day off to get the project started!).
