Members and staff from our supported employment group in Calderdale visited Limehouse Communications yesterday morning for a ‘Work Orientation Visit’. These visits enable our members to see behind the scenes in different sectors, discover the roles available and how to get them, and make more informed decisions on their career paths. These visits also help members to develop networking skills, meet new people, and source new opportunities for voluntary work, work experience, freelance work, and paid work. Plus, they’re just a good excuse to be nosey!
Limehouse Communications specialise in Marketing and Internal Communications for companies such as Betty’s Tearooms, Yorkshire Tea, M&S, Nestle, and First Direct. They’re based a 5-10 minute walk from Halifax town centre, in the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre. Their offices on the top floor have a distinctly lime green theme, and an extremely welcoming atmosphere!
We were treated to a behind the scenes tour and an opportunity to meet with Nick and Tracy, the directors of the company, Rick, a film producer and director, Greg, the lead editor, and Stephen, who’s in charge of filming all of the lovely content (as well as lugging all the heavy camera equipment between jobs!)! Not only this, we were given the chance to use some of Limehouse’s top of the range camera equipment, observe and chat with staff at work, despite their tight schedules!
After the tour, Tracy and Verna provided us all with a goodie bag of lime themed gifts and sweets to take away with us which was an unexpected, but very pleasant surprise!
Thank you to the staff at Limehouse for giving us the opportunity to meet with you and get a glimpse of what goes on at your company. Everyone made us feel very welcome! We hope we can stay in touch!
