Leeds Cookery and Art workshop sponsored walk
A big thank you to all members that organised and completed the sponsored walk around Roundhay Park in July 2016. You raised £236!
When asked by the Lord Mayor if they would donate us (her charity of the year) any boards, iBoardTouch kindly agreed to give us three. They installed these for us and a very nice man came twice to our Leeds site to demonstrate some of the things that we might be able to do with the boards and to give staff a bit of a how-to and to (he was great!). He also made it known that the organisation was willing to provide ongoing support and to answer questions or queries which might come up through use. The devices are getting well used by members and by our staff team and they’ve allowed our workshops to do a range of things that they wouldn’t have been able to do (quite as successfully) before.
Having the boards has allowed groups: to pull up (for all to see) and annotate online documents; to screen videos, including the ones they have made themselves (our CCC workshop’s “Autism Myth-busting video”, our Multimedia workshop’s fake trailer for a film that would never get made: “Xenosaur”); to collaborate to produce an online videogame using scratch software and drag and drop programming; to work with a new medium to produce digital art (think Hockney!) and to produce large scale collaborative pieces (some of our members have been far more willing to work on the boards than they would have been on paper because of the possibility they afford for undoing any mistakes). In short, they’ve really added to what we can do and we’re excited about continuing to explore what else they make possible.
Cardinal Group Christmas Donation
Specialist Autism Services would like to give a special mention the staff team at The Cardinal Group (S-Box®) Fernhill House, Battye Street in Bradford who donated over 50 raffle prizes for our Christmas party 2016. The party was a massive success and every person who attended received a wonderful Christmas present. The response from Cardinal’s was the best we have ever had. A massive thank you to you all for your generosity in supporting us to support adults with autism. You helped to make a lot of people very happy. Best wishes to you all and your families for Christmas.
Over2Hills purpose is to make things easy! We prevent the disposal of redundant office furniture from becoming an environmental problem whilst increasing your organisational green credentials and social responsibility. We wanted to say a big thank you to Over2Hills as they have donated a lot of the chairs we sit on, the desks we work at and the cupboards we store things in! Over2Hills have been invaluable to our organisation over the past 6 years and are always really cheerful and happy to help!
A big thank you to Paul Mann and the Rothwell Lions team for raising £2500 for SAS through the Wildboar Challenge in 2016!
